For instance, in Australia it was noted that whereas the variety of medical graduates has increased, this improve was unlikely to handle the challenge of attracting them to work in rural and distant settings. This was partly because GPs can set up practice wherever within the nation, and most settle in internal cities, and ‘there is nothing you are able to do to reallocate those GPs, you have to attract them to small rural communities’ (KI-A03). A related problem was reported in Finland, where one potential answer has been to offer alternatives for GPs and nurses to work with specialists in, for example, inside drugs or geriatrics (KI-F02).
